Cabane d'Archail

The place

Pastoral hut at 1667 m in the Trois-Évêchés area (Préalpes de Haute-Provence). Partly occupied by a shepherd from July to end of October, closed to the public during that period. Access from Archail or via the Barre des Dourbes. The hut has two sections: on the ground floor a table, 4 chairs and a stove in the main room, opening onto a bedroom with 2 beds without mattresses; no dishes. Upstairs, 2 rooms with 10 spaces, accessible only from the outside when the shepherd occupies the ground floor. Spring at the Pas d'Archail (50 m below to the north), flow varies by season. Another wooden hut nearby has been fitted with a second stove and can serve as a shelter.
