Cabane Col de Bareges
The place
Unstaffed cabin at 1,750 m altitude at the Col de Barèges, in the Val d'Aran. The site consists of two buildings: a sheepfold reserved for the shepherd, and a section open to hikers with a room equipped with a table, three chairs and a fireplace (wood is about ten minutes away), plus a second empty room used as a dormitory. Capacity of 3 people, summer and winter. Water comes from a spring feeding a basin right next to the cabin (low flow at the end of the season). Access from the Col de Portillon via a track, or from the Hospice de France via the path that climbs behind the building and continues due north.
Getting there
Cabane située au Col de Barèges, auquel amène une piste depuis le Col de Portillon. Depuis l'Hospice de France : emprunter le chemin qui monte derrière celle-ci et continuer toujours plein Nord.
