Cabana de Pomero
The place
Open hut at 1865 m in the Artiga du Lin valley (Val d'Aran, Spanish Catalonia), to the west above the refuge of the same name. Inside: a large wooden sleeping platform serving as a table and for laying out a mattress, 4 stools, a fireplace, clean and dry concrete floor. Metal door tends to jam in the frame: pull hard. Water at the stream below, at a runoff near the south of the hut, and while descending from the Pas de l'Escalette about 10 min before the footbridge crossing the stream. From France: start from the Hospice de France, reach the Pas de l'Escalette and descend east into the Artiga du Lin valley (marked).
Getting there
La cabane se situe dans le vallon de l'Artiga de Lin, en amont et à l'ouest du refuge du même nom. Depuis le versant français, l'itinéraire généralement emprunté passe par le pas de l'Escalette avant de redescendre côté est dans la vallée.
The setting
Plusieurs points d'eau à proximité : un torrent en contrebas, un écoulement au sud de la cabane, et une source rejoignant le ruisseau environ dix minutes avant un passage à gué. Sol en béton, porte métallique difficile à ouvrir.
