Cabana de Marimaha
The place
Sleeping capacity: 3. Interior equipment: - 1 table - 2 bed platforms made of planks laid on boulders - Clean wooden floor (room for 1 mattress). Water: the stream water may be polluted by local livestock (a cow carcass was spotted a little further upstream in September 2016 — take the usual precautions...). Wood: firewood can be found along the crossing of the Bois de Marimanha. From Estarri d'Aneu, Isil, and the Montgarri track, at the Pont de Marimanha: - Follow the track (150 m) east to an information sign for Marimanha-Beret, climb south into a clearing where you'll pick up a faint trail heading southeast then south (a few switchbacks) through the forest; the trail then emerges into an alpine pasture, still on the true right bank of the stream; after passing the point where the stream runs through a narrow gorge, you reach a flat area — cross the stream, and the shelter is on the true left bank above the rise overlooking you. From the [->5397]: - Cross the Col d'Airoto to the north, descend north toward the Estanyons de Marimanha, which you follow along the true right bank, then descend alongside the small stream (dry in late summer) coming from the lakes; you'll first reach a pasture followed along the true right bank, and the descent then brings you into the alpine pasture; continue the descent, still on the true right bank of the stream, until you spot the cabin on the left before the stream enters a narrow gorge. Unmarked trail, a few cairns; from the lakes, the stream serves as your guiding thread...
