Buron de Rombière

The place

Very rudimentary buron at 1340 m in the Monts du Cantal (Massif Central, Parc naturel régional des Volcans d'Auvergne). Bare earth floor, metal roof, no window or door panel. The metal roof is in good condition and provides shelter in bad weather. Fireplace present but a fire is impossible to light due to poor draw. Access from the Col de Rombière, crossed by the GR4 and GR400, 200 m above to the east; direct descent through pastures with some steep sections and barbed-wire fences, or via the paths from the Combe Negre trough to the end of the Rombière track. Nearest water point: the trough on the Rombière track, 500 m away.
