Blue Lakes Backcountry Hiking Hut
The place
A hut in the San Juan Huts network at 2909 m (DB) / 9380 ft below Mount Sneffels, on a small bench above East Dallas Creek (Ouray County, Colorado, United States). About 400 m upstream and west of the Blue Lakes/Mount Sneffels summer trailhead. Sleeps 8 on padded bunk beds. Amenities: propane stove, propane lamp, wood stove, firewood, cooking utensils. Water is obtained by melting snow — treatment required (iodine, filter pump, UV). Ski-in: ~9 km of gentle travel on an old summer forest road. Available from November 25 to June 1 for winter use, $30 per person per night. One of the easiest huts to reach in the San Juan Huts network; suitable for beginner to advanced skiers, often combined with the North Pole and Ridgway huts on the multi-day Sneffels Traverse.

~9 km ski-in from Camp Bird Mine/Ouray; summer access via the Blue Lakes trailhead.
