Bjornloppet Hut at 2196 m in Bear Valley, Sierra Nevada, California (coordinates 38.44°N 120.04°W, Alpine County, California, USA) — not in Alaska, Minnesota or Wisconsin despite the Scandinavian etymology ("bjørn" = bear, "loppet" = race in Swedish/Norwegian). DB status: closed. A twin hut to Equipe Hut, built from sawn timber from Big Trees State Park by the Bear Valley Cross Country Center and David Swofford (former owner of the now-closed Cottage Springs Resort). A destination for cross-country skiers and snowshoers. Site of the annual Bjornloppet race.
Getting there
Closed in the DB. Formerly accessed via the Bear Valley XC ski center (winter season). Three Hut Tour with Equipe Hut.
