The place

CAI bivouac at 3275 m at the foot of the south face of the Monviso (commune of Pontechianale, Italian Cottian Alps). Built by the Sci Club Savigliano and inaugurated in 1981, dedicated to Lino Andreotti — mountaineer, mayor of Savigliano and founder of the Sci Club Savigliano. Main purpose: emergency support point for CNSAS teams (mountain rescue); only to be used in case of genuine necessity and/or emergency. Refurbished in 2004 by the Sci Club and CAI Savigliano, which still maintains it. In January 2012, a rockfall damaged the roof and upstream wall; declared unusable in June 2012, then repaired in early September 2014 by a team of 9 CAI and Sci Club volunteers. Capacity 6 spots.
