Bivacco Moncalieri

The place

Bivouac at 2710 m below the north-east glacier of the Gelas, just above Lac Bianco, in the Gesso valley (municipality of Entracque, province of Cuneo, Italy), at the Passo dei Ghiacciai. Owned by Giovane Montagna, Moncalieri section, built in 1982 on the north-east ridge of the Gelas, about thirty minutes above the former refuge. Capacity 10 beds with mattresses and blankets, water (scarce and not always available). Always open. Access from San Giacomo in about 4h45, the last half hour from Lac Bianco. Located in one of the wildest areas of the Alpi Marittime park.
