Bill Putnam (Fairy Meadow) Hut
The place
ACC hut at 2,050 m in the Adamant Group of the Selkirk Mountains (British Columbia, Canada). Built in 1965 by the Alpine Club of Canada at the initiative of, and under the supervision of, William Putnam; renamed Bill Putnam Hut in 2002 in his honor (he passed away on December 20, 2014, aged 90). Two-story building: sleeping quarters upstairs, kitchen and living room on the ground floor. Capacity 20 dormitory places on foam mattresses (summer and winter alike). Major renovation in summer 1992 (interior fully redone, new outdoor toilets, propane stove added). Access mainly by helicopter from Golden or Revelstoke for skiing/mountaineering. Located on the Fairy Meadow alpine meadows. Booking via the Alpine Club of Canada.
A bit of history
