Montana · États-Unis0 mStopover CottageVerified listing

The place

Rentable cabin in Paradise Valley (Custer Gallatin National Forest, Montana, USA), where the peaks of the Gallatin Range break the sky to the west and the Absarokas rise to the east. Set in a flat clearing, surrounded by spruce and fir, at 1739 m (DB) / 5800 ft. The largest cabin in the Yellowstone District: a 28 x 40 foot log structure, five rooms and two porches. The original Big Creek Cabin dates from 1907 and still stands; the current cabin (a former ranger station) was completed in 1925 and sits right next to it. Big Creek flows about 15 m from the back porch. A nearby trailhead serves three trails (for hikers and horse riders, including one into the Gallatin Range). Good trout fishing in Big Creek. Bears, elk, deer and moose frequently seen. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing popular in winter. Access: from Livingston, take Hwy 89 for ~55 km to Big Creek Road / Mountain Sky Guest Ranch sign, right for ~8 km. From $75/night.
