Barrett Lake Cabin

The place

A Recreation Sites and Trails BC cabin located at about 1,805 m on the shores of Barrett Lake, in the Selkirk Mountains of the West Kootenay (Central Kootenay Regional District, British Columbia). The lake sits in a glacially carved basin; Empire Peak (2,204 m) rises to the northeast and Dominion Mountain (2,232 m) to the south. Access from Ymir: take BC Hwy 6 north for 6.1 km, turn onto Porto Rico Road, then onto the Barrett Creek FSR for 10.1 km. An unimproved site (no toilets, no marked tent sites), open access, no fees.
