Chalet Asulkan
The place
Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) cabin at 2100 m in the Rogers Pass area of Glacier National Park (British Columbia). Located 6.5 km above Asulkan Brook, 300 m beyond the end of the Asulkan Trail. Approach: 3 to 5 hours of walking or skiing. Capacity of 12 people; equipped with a propane stove and heating, lighting, a mezzanine and foam mattresses, basic kitchen and tableware, cleaning supplies, toilet and greywater system. A prime base camp for summer mountaineering and backcountry skiing: Seven Steps of Paradise, Asulkan Pass, Sapphire Col and Dome Glacier are all accessible as day trips. In winter, the route crosses numerous avalanche paths — transceiver, shovel and probe essential.
