The place

Alpes de Haute-Provence. Verdon / Asse sector. Commune of Senez (enclave). Mapping: IGN 1:25000 sheet 3441 east "Digne". Locate the D.17, between the Asse valley and the Verdon valley. From N to S, after passing Palus (hamlet), you reach a gorge cut into a limestone bar (Pont du Pas d'Escale). From there, tracks head SE beyond the Preynes farm, to the pass just behind which stands the village of Le Poil. Other access routes are possible, notably a trail (intermittent yellow markers) coming from the N, via the ruined village of Creisset, starting further upstream on the Asse, left bank, after crossing a metal footbridge placed almost opposite the bridge at elevation 647.9 m.
