The place

Former military battery occupying the Cap des Mèdes at the end of the island of Porquerolles (Var, Port-Cros National Park). Magnificent site combining mountain and sea in a rare way, large battery on the right against the cliff. Extensive building: 6 rooms upstairs and 6 in the basement, with no amenities at all. Camping is forbidden on the island of Porquerolles: use only as a shelter in bad weather. Access from the port of Porquerolles via the Notre-Dame trail, from beach to beach, over 5 km, then an uphill trail to the Cap des Mèdes.
