Abri de la Creuse

The place

A small wooden hut on the flat area at the bottom of the Combe de la Creuse, at 1925 m in the Bornes-Aravis massif (Haute-Savoie). Poor insulation (snow gets in under the ill-fitting door), comfort limited to a bench — there isn't really room to lie down. Access via the Porte des Aravis trail: 650 m of elevation gain from Fernuy or 450 m from the Crêt du Merle. According to recent reports (early 2025), the shelter appears to be closed: a large wooden board is bolted over the door, blocking access.
