The place

A basic makeshift shelter at 2275 m in the Cerces-Ambin area, near the Queyras (Hautes-Alpes). Structure built against a large boulder, dry-stone walls, wooden roof — the remains of a building that has seen better days. Access from the Refuge Ricou via a trail heading north that runs alongside the GR 57 about 100 m below; follow the Ruisseau de la Cula along its south bank up to 2275 m. Depending on the season, the roof is visible and the shelter usable, but it is frequently filled with snow and hard to stay in. Should only be considered as an emergency fallback.
