Cookie Policy

How Refuge uses cookies and similar technologies on the refuge.camp website, and how you can manage them.

Last updated: July 10, 2026

This policy explains how Refuge uses cookies and similar technologies on the refuge.camp website. For everything related to the processing of your personal data, see our privacy policy.

1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device while browsing. It is used, among other things, to make a site work, remember your preferences, or measure traffic. The Refuge mobile apps use equivalent mechanisms (local storage on the device) for the same purposes.

2. The cookies we use

2.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the site to function and cannot be disabled. They are used to:

  • keep you signed in (authentication);
  • remember your language and display preferences;
  • keep the site secure (fraud and abuse prevention).

These cookies do not require your consent under applicable law.

2.2 Analytics cookies

The Service is built to support privacy-friendly analytics (PostHog). This analytics tool is not enabled in our current production configuration: no such cookie is set at this time. If we enable it, we will update this policy and obtain your prior consent where required by law, via a cookie management banner.

2.3 Third-party cookies

Some providers we use to operate the Service (for example Stripe for online payment, or Mapbox for map display) may set their own cookies or similar technologies when their services are loaded on our pages, subject to their own policies.

3. Retention period

Strictly necessary cookies are kept for the duration of your session or, for some of them, up to a maximum of 13 months in line with regulatory guidance.

4. How to manage cookies

You can configure your browser at any time to refuse cookies or to be warned before they are set. Note: disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent the site from working properly (in particular, staying signed in).

Most browsers offer a setting accessible in their privacy settings:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, in particular if we enable new analytics cookies. In the event of a material change, we will update the "last updated" date above.
