Le lieu
Germany's oldest long-distance trail, opened in 1900 by the Schwarzwaldverein, running along the ridges of the Black Forest from Pforzheim to Basel. It climbs over Dobel, Alexanderschanze and the high moorland above Hausach before reaching Titisee, where the route splits into a western branch over the Feldberg, Belchen and Blauen, and an eastern branch via the Herzogenhorn and Dinkelberg — both ending in Basel. Marked with a red diamond on white, it is usually walked in 12 (west) or 13 (east) daily stages.
