Le lieu
The Tour du Mont Blanc is a circular long-distance trail encircling the Mont Blanc massif through the Chamonix, Aosta and Valais valleys, crossing France, Italy and Switzerland. It follows historic shepherd and smuggler paths over several high passes, including the Col de la Seigne and the Grand Col Ferret, linking traditional mountain refuges rather than towns. It is one of Europe's most popular multi-day treks, prized for ever-changing views of glaciers and the Mont Blanc summit from three national perspectives, though the cumulative elevation change over 10-11 days makes it physically demanding.
