Le lieu

A six-day circular route through the Serranía de Ronda in Andalusia, starting and finishing in Ronda and looping through a string of pueblos blancos in the Guadiaro and Genal valleys. The trail mostly follows historic mule tracks (caminos reales) linking the whitewashed villages, with several days of sustained several-hundred-metre climbs and descents through olive groves, cork oak woodland and limestone hills. Conditions are hot and exposed in summer, and while the terrain is non-technical, cumulative ascent across the loop is significant for its modest daily distances.
