Le lieu

A regional Vosges crossing on the Alsatian flank, from Wissembourg on the German border south to Belfort, running roughly parallel to and interleaved with the neighboring GR531 and GR53. It passes through the Vosges du Nord sandstone country, the Saverne and Bruche valley hills, the Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines and Munster valleys, the Grand Ballon and Rossberg massifs, before descending toward the Belfort gap. Waymarked with yellow rectangles by the Club Vosgien, it is largely forest and ridge-balcony walking at moderate elevation, with village gîtes d'étape rather than alpine refuges for most of the route.

Un peu d'histoire

Comme le GR531, ce sentier de liaison vosgien a été balisé dans les années 1980 par la FFRP pour compléter le réseau de grandes randonnées dans le massif des Vosges.

Y arriver

Épinal : gare TER (depuis Nancy, 1h). Luxeuil-les-Bains : bus depuis Vesoul.

Matériel recommandé

Chaussures de randonnée légères imperméables. Vêtements de pluie.
