Le lieu

An unofficial long-distance route devised in 2007, linking the Great Glen at Fort William to the Cairngorms fringe at Aviemore, and forming part of a chain with the West Highland Way and Speyside Way. The route follows forestry tracks and plantation roads for much of its length, past Loch Laggan and through remote moorland in Glen Banchor with several river crossings that can become impassable in spate. It is largely unwaymarked, so navigation by map or GPX is essential, and while there are no major climbs the trail is known for some very long, remote days, particularly the stretch beyond Tulloch. It passes ancient Caledonian pine forest near Aviemore before reaching the edge of the Cairngorms National Park.
