Limestone Way

A waymarked trail through the White Peak, the softer pastoral limestone-dale landscape of the southern Peak District, running 66km from Castleton to Rocester in Staffordshire. Devised in the early 1980s and extended south in 1992 to link with the Staffordshire Way, it threads rolling limestone dales, dry-stone-walled sheep pasture and disused railway trackbeds — including Cave Dale, Lathkill Dale and Bradford Dale — with a highest point near Bradwell Moor at around 460m. The route passes Peveril Castle, Monyash, Youlgreave's Bradford Dale, the Derwent Valley at Matlock, and the Tissington Trail before crossing the River Dove near its finish.
