The place
Zaslon Koncheto is an alpine shelter in the Pirin mountains (Bulgaria), perched at 2760 m elevation on the narrow ridge between the peaks Bayuvi Dupki (2820 m) and Banski Suhodol, 500 m southeast of Bayuvi Dupki. It is the highest shelter in the Bulgarian mountains. A small wooden structure anchored to the rocks with steel cables. No water, electricity or sanitary facilities. Cramped capacity of 10 to 12 people if needed (only a few cubic meters of air). A purely safety shelter (bad weather, end of day). Access from Yavorov hut (4-4.5 h), from Vihren hut via the Vihren summit (5.5 h), or from Banderitsa hut (4 h). In snowy conditions, experienced mountaineering is required.
