The place
Mountain refuge of the Academic Alpine Club Zurich (AACZ): A Corner of Paradise for Nature Lovers The mountain refuge of the Academic Alpine Club Zurich (AACZ) is nestled in the Urner Maderanertal on a sunny terrace at the edge of a broad floodplain. Once the climb is done, the area around the hut offers an ideal outdoor recreation spot for children and families. Besides streams, sand and lakes suitable for swimming, well-equipped climbing gardens can be found nearby in the Plaisir area. The impressive peaks above and below 3000 metres are reserved for experienced alpine hikers and mountaineers, who often find solitary, wild and demanding hiking trails there.
