Winklmooshütte
The place
The Winklmooshütte is an unstaffed self-catering hut of the German Alpine Club, Munich section, at 1160 m altitude on the northern edge of the Winkelmoosalm in the Chiemgau Alps (Bavaria). Total capacity 22 beds. Kitchen equipped with an electric stove and a coal-fired range; tiled stove in the common room; separate men's/women's washrooms and flush toilets. Booking restricted to members of the Munich and Oberland sections. Well suited to families with children (short approaches, safe surroundings). Winter area: Winklmoosalm/Steinplatte alpine skiing and Winklmoos cross-country trails right outside the hut. Certified Dark Sky Park since 2018 (protected view of the starry sky). Not to be confused with the neighbouring Winklmoosalm Hüterhütte.
Getting there
On the northern edge of the Winkelmoosalm (Reit im Winkl). Winklmoosalm/Steinplatte ski area in winter.
