Winkelalm
The place
The Winkelalm is a small self-catering DAV cabin (Munich and Oberland sections), at 1,193 m on the north side of the Zahmer Kaiser, in Tyrol (Austria). Located in the vast Winkelkar cirque below the Pyramidenspitze. Designed for small private groups or families, it is only rented for two consecutive nights (short cabin season). A back-to-basics spirit: water from an outdoor spring (no tap), wood stove, dry toilets, electricity as the only luxury. Access from the "Am Brand" car park (733 m) at Durchholzen, via the alpine pasture road to the Großpointeralm, then a trail through light forest and open terrain. Booking reserved for DAV Munich/Oberland members, guests possible.
