Wildenseehütte
The place
Wildenseehütte of the Ausseerland Section of the Austrian Alpine Club (ÖAV), in the western part of the Totes Gebirge, in the Styrian Salzkammergut (Austria). At 1525 m, at the end of the Ausseer Hintertal, on the Wildenseealm near the Wildensee. A self-catering hut (Selbstversorgerhütte) with basic facilities, an ideal base for fine hikes on the Totes Gebirge plateau or for crossing the massif. On trails linking the Altausseer See, the Grundlsee and the Offensee. Access from the Loseralm car park (1600 m): about 3 h, 8 km. A stage on the 4-5 day western crossing of the Totes Gebirge between Bad Ischl (Upper Austria) and Hinterstoder (Styria). A ski-touring stage toward the Pühringerhütte (~4 h / 13 km).
