Wharfedale Hut

The place

Standard 10-bunk DOC hut in the Oxford Forest Conservation Area (Canterbury), at 500 m. Access: from the View Hill car park via the Wharfedale Track in 5 hours; from Lees Valley Road via the Townshend Track in 3 hours (permission from Lees Valley Station required); from Black Hill Hut via the Black Hill Track in 3 hours 30. No bookings, payment by hut tickets or Backcountry Hut Pass (NZ$10/5 until 30 June 2026). Caution: area used by hunters.
