The place

Basic two-bunk DOC bivouac at 741 m in Craigieburn Forest Park (North Canterbury/Arthur's Pass). Free, open access. No DOC-marked trail: self-navigation by map, compass, or GPS. Approach via Wilberforce Canal Road; permission from Glenthorne Station required if not using the riverbed. River-crossing skills required: do not cross a river in flood, without safe entry and exit points, or if in doubt. Map BV19, NZTM2000 E1464658, N5231971.
