The place
Wooden cabin hidden in the tall forest below the north face of the Großer Waxenstein, at 1384 m altitude in the Wetterstein massif (Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria). Former forestry hut (formerly Älple- or Aiplehütte), leased by the DAV Munich section since 1920. Self-catered members-only refuge, 6 places. Base for climbing on the north faces of the Waxenstein.

Accessible from Garmisch-Partenkirchen (700 m) or Hammerbach (756 m). Reserved for DAV Munich/Oberland members.
