Wanderhütte Eimbeckhausen

Niedersachsen · Allemagne0 mUnguardedVerified listing

The place

Hiking hut run by the Wanderfreunde Eimbeckhausen e.V., located in Bad Münder am Deister (district of Hamelin-Pyrmont, Lower Saxony), near the summit of the Helle and the arboretum dedicated to the Süntelbuche (the Süntel beech, a remarkable serpentine subspecies of Fagus sylvatica). Located at about 211 m altitude, in the Eimbeckhausen district — a stopover on the B 442 between the two low ranges of the Deister and the Süntel. A favored spot for a picnic break or shelter in bad weather, and a starting point for reaching the summit of the Sprenkelberg (248 m), 1.3 km away. Typical mixed-forest setting of the Lower Saxony Mittelgebirge, with beech and oak stands on Triassic sandstone. The Deister-Süntel region is rich in hiking and cycling trails, as well as craft heritage (the Eimbeckhausen Stuhlmuseum, the famous German Chair Museum).
