Standard category DOC hut with four bunks located at 935 m in Ruahine Forest Park (Manawatu-Whanganui). Facilities: river water, open fireplace for heating, platform bunks. Rate 10 NZD per adult per night, 5 NZD for ages 5-17, free below, payable via standard tickets or annual Backcountry Hut Pass. No booking. Foot access via the Kawhatau River from the bridge on Rangitane Road, north of Mangaweka (from SH1). Route can become impassable in high water. Coordinates NZGRID E1867997, N5594783 (BK36).
