The place

DOC lodge on the north coast of the Coromandel (NZ), 13 km northeast of Colville. Capacity of 12 people across three dorms with mixed bunk configurations. Full kitchen, electric cooking, BBQ. Wood-fire heating (seasonal). Hot showers, flush toilets, laundry. No pets, no fish cleaning. Pack In Pack Out (no on-site waste management). Camping not permitted. Activities: swimming, fishing, surfing, walking, Matamataharakeke Track (3 h return). The road north from Colville is mostly unsealed, narrow and winding. At Christmas: exclusive booking only; off-season: room-by-room booking. Currently closed for renovations until further notice.
