The place
A 10-bunk DOC hut formerly located in Te Urewera (east coast, NZ). Dismantled by Te Uru Taumatua / Ngāi Tūhoe as part of the gradual DOC hut removal programme started in 2022. Camping remains possible on site but without toilets or a water point. Self-sufficient bivouacking recommended.
