Voldertalhütte: In Harmony with Nature in the Tuxer Alps The Voldertalhütte, also known as the Franz Pitscheider Haus, is a refuge belonging to the Austrian Naturefriends, located in the Voldertal, in the Tuxer Alps. History The first Voldertalhütte was built by the local Hall branch of the Naturefriends between 1918 and 1923. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by fire on 28 April 1988. Its reconstruction, carried out between 1988 and 1991, was dedicated to Franz Pitscheider (*1933; †2002), chairman of the Hall branch, in recognition of his work and commitment to restoring the refuge as well as setting up a water intake and a small hydroelectric plant for the power supply. Access and Routes Reaching the hut takes about 1 hour's walk from the hamlet of Volderwildbad. A paid car park is located at Nösslach, about 15 minutes' walk above the refuge. The neighbouring refuges are the Glungezerhütte, just below the summit of the Glungezer, and the Lizumer Hütte in the Wattental to the east. Both refuges can be reached by hikes of several hours. The Naviser Jöchl (2479 m) offers a crossing to the Naviser Hütte in the Navistal. From the Voldertalhütte, it is possible to climb the peaks of the Voldertal, including the Largoz (2214 m), the Haneburger (2596 m), the Malgrübler (2749 m), the Grünbergspitze (2790 m) and the Rosenjoch (2796 m).
