The place

"Östra Vitnjulstugan" cabin in Vindelfjällen, on the Vindelvaggi trail, in a mountain birch forest near the Vindelälven river (Västerbotten, Sweden), 1-2 days' walk upstream from Ammarnäs. Capacity 6 beds + 2 mezzanine sleeping spots in the entrance; unlocked emergency room with 2 wooden benches (no mattresses). Amenities: small wood stove (one pot), cooking equipment, mattresses, pillows, blankets (bring your own sleeping bag or liner, a portable stove is recommended). Dogs allowed (no bedding or kitchen access). Fee 200 kr/person/night, children 0-15 free. Managed by Länsstyrelsen Västerbotten. Hiking options: bridge over the Vindelälven, ascents of Slieruotjåhkka and Ruepsgájssie; rare flora (Arctic meadow-grass Poa arctica, mountain rhododendron).
