The place

Unstaffed DNT cabin managed by DNT Rana og omegn at the western end of Lake Virvatnet. 16 bunks in six rooms, open year-round, locked with a DNT key. Wood heating, gas for cooking, solar lighting, complete kitchen equipment; guests handle meals, water and cleaning. Summer access via the E6 to Krokstrand then 16 km of gravel track to the dam, then on foot. Limited winter access, as the road is not cleared of snow. Two rooms set aside for dogs; a coded fishing boat available on site. Cultural heritage sites in the area. Registration and payment via the DNT app.
