Vermigelhütte
The place
The Vermigelhütte is a hut of the Swiss Alpine Club, Zofingen section, set at 2042 m at the head of the Unteralptal valley, above Andermatt (Uri). Small and welcoming, it has 36 beds and welcomes families, hikers, and ski tourers. The staffed season runs from early July to late September in summer, and on winter weekends from January to Easter. A former military shelter handed over to the Zofingen section in 1946, converted for 20 spots and later expanded. Classic access from Andermatt via the alpine road closed to traffic, taking 2h30-3h for 610 m of ascent.
