Útulňa Medvedica

The place

A small wooden shelter (útulňa) measuring 2×3 m in the Považský Inovec range, above the village of Malinišťom (Slovakia), at 721 m. Comfortably fits 2-3 people on two narrow bunks, with floor space for a third; up to 6-8 in an emergency during a storm. Thick blankets, a brick stove with a cast-iron plate, a shelf with sugar, tea, coffee, salt and spices; matches and candles on site. No water source in the immediate vicinity (the nearest is below the Prieľačina summit). Unstaffed, open year-round. Access via the yellow trail from the ridge (Prieľačina) or from Hrádok via Dolina.
