Útulňa Jána Kruteka

The place

Shelter (útulňa) located at 861 m on the red trail of the Cesta hrdinov SNP, 400 m from the Jedľovec pass toward Košice, in the deciduous forest of the Volovské vrchy (eastern Slovakia). Built by the GRAU architects. Capacity of eleven people: bunks on three levels on the right side, table with bench usable as an emergency sleeping spot, open vestibule with seating and firewood store, cooking stove facing the entrance, multiple hooks, drying lines above the stove, dry composting toilets at the rear, outdoor fire pit a few metres away. Water source about 200 m away via the red trail. Access via the blue trail toward Medzev to the southeast or toward Mníšek nad Hnilcom to the northwest.
