Útulňa Izba
The place
Útulňa (open shelter for hikers) located in the Zemľanky area, along the valley of the Kostolník stream below the ridgeline of the Biele Karpaty (White Carpathians, western Slovakia), near the Pod Ostrým vrchom crossroads. Simple but effective facilities: a table with benches, a working indoor hearth, and a saw left available to cut fuel before leaving. An additional outdoor hearth nearby. Mainly serves as a stopover or emergency shelter for an improvised night. A weak spring lies near the structure, but likely dries up in summer — bring your own water. Typical Biele Karpaty forest setting: beech-fir stands, summit meadows and Carpathian wildlife, in a border range straddling Slovakia and the Czech Republic. A stop on the KČT (Klub Českých Turistů / Klub Slovenských Turistov) trails that run along the Carpathian arc.
