Útulňa Čierna Hora
The place
The Útulňa Čierna Hora is a shelter (útulňa) at 667 m elevation in the Volovské vrchy (Volovské massif, eastern Slovakia). Built in 2007, stone exterior with wood paneling inside, concrete floor with stone slabs, insulated triangular roof with glass wool, no upper floor or attic. Access via the green-marked trail from the Grob pass (Hrabovčík-Rovné road), via the Ostrý vrch summit then a red trail. Downside: no spring nearby, the closest is about 1 h away along the red trail below Makovica, with a weak flow. The Volovské vrchy form Slovakia's largest protected bird area.
