Upper Te Hoe Hut

The place

9-bunk DOC hut at 784 m in Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tāne Conservation Park (east coast of New Zealand's North Island). Set on a terrace among beech trees, an intermediate point between Central Te Hoe Hut and Upper Whirinaki Hut. Access: 5 h from Central Te Hoe Hut, 6 h from Pukahunui Rd, 7 h from Upper Whirinaki Hut. Jointly maintained by the NZ Deer Stalkers Association and the DOC. Payment by DOC hut tickets or Backcountry Hut Pass.
