Upper Mohaka Hut in Kaimanawa Forest Park, Taupō/Turangi area (Central North Island, New Zealand), at 570 m altitude, at the source of the Mohaka. Continuous Kaimanawa cluster (batches 297-328). DOC hut on the Mohaka River (a Class IV-V kayaking river, sacred to Ngāti Kahungunu), an area of beech forest and Kaimanawa Wild Horses (~300, a feral population protected since 2012 after the controversial cull of the 1990s).
