Tussock Saddle Bivvy in Kaimanawa Forest Park, Taupō/Turangi sector (Central Plateau, North Island, New Zealand), at 1,192 m altitude. Continuous Kaimanawa NZ cluster (batches 297-323). A DOC bivouac in the Kaimanawa Range (home to the Kaimanawa Wild Horses, ~300 descendants of escaped horses from the 19th century), a zone of Chionochloa rubra (red tussock), next to Tongariro National Park, a UNESCO mixed site since 1990, the first in the world listed under a cultural Māori criterion.
