Trögelhütte
The place
Self-catering hut ("Selbstversorgerhütte") of the DAV München section, set at 1429 m at the heart of the "Alpspitzarena", in the Kreuzeck-Kreuzwankl ski area of the Wetterstein range (municipality of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, Germany). Notable position at the foot of the Alpspitze (2628 m) and the Zugspitze (2962 m, Germany's highest point). Booking reserved exclusively for members of the Munich and Oberland sections of the DAV (Deutscher Alpenverein). Capacity for 28 beds. In winter, a perfect spot for skiers thanks to its position at the junction of the Olympia and Kandahar runs (legendary World Cup and 1936 Winter Olympics pistes). In summer, a base for hikers, mountain bikers and climbers (via ferrata, rock climbing). Mineral setting of the Wetterstein range: vertical limestone walls, high-altitude larches. Wildlife: chamois, ibex (reintroduced), marmot, golden eagle. A stop on the trails linking Garmisch-Partenkirchen to the classic huts (Höllentalangerhütte, Knorrhütte).
