Trekkinghütte "Grenzbaude"

The place

Historic "Grenzbaude" trekking hut managed by Sachsenforst on the Forststeig Elbsandstein, on the left bank of the Elbe between Saxony and the Czech border, at 430 m. Twelve bunks, wood stove, outdoor area for 15 people. Open from 1 April to 31 October, accessible on foot only; motorised traffic is forbidden. Access requires prior purchase of a Sachsenforst Trekkingticket; the hut is left unlocked during the season. Bring a sleeping bag, sleeping mat, water, toilet paper, a torch, candles and rubbish bags. Strict quiet hours, respect for other users, and no fires in the forest or inside the buildings. Dogs allowed outside on a leash only.
