Top Olderog Bivouac

The place

Small, basic 2-bunk hut managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) in the Hokitika area, on the West Coast of the South Island (New Zealand), in the Kelly Range and Styx River area. An isolated refuge in a high valley, with the access track not maintained by DOC: the Permolat association carries out occasional upkeep and publishes up-to-date route information. Free access, no booking. Basic bunks only, bring your own gear; demanding mountain conditions, technical terrain.
